July is International Zine Month! You can get all of the zines we've released over the last month by becoming a Zinester member of our Patreon! As of July 25th, that's nine zines for $3 (including this one), plus all of the zines we release on Itch while you're a member.

Asterisms in the Infinite is a divination-lite "game". You think of something you want to ponder ("Should I take that new job?" or "Do I suck at making games?" for instance) and then toss trinkets onto a piece of paper. From here, you draw stars onto the page and look for asterisms —unofficial constellations, basically— that have messages for you.

The entire activity is open to interpretation, with one hard rule: the stars want you to shine, they want the best for you! As such, they'll never encourage you to hurt yourself or anyone else. Aside from that, you're free to interpret what you draw amongst the stars however you want. Maybe, in asking whether you suck at making games, you draw a hand. That hand is clearly telling you to STOP questioning your awesomeness! Or maybe you draw a teddy bear wearing a top hat and singing. That teddy bear is obviously a huge fan of you, and so you should make stuff for your devoted fan, Mr. Teddy.

And you can read the whole thing digitally for free! It's all in that window above thanks to Electric Zine Maker, just click "Run book." :D Purchasing the zine allows us to create more (thanks, capitalism) and gets you access to two files: a PDF you can read on your favorite devices and an 8-page printable "mini-zine."

Speaking of which...

Made for #MiniZineJuly25

Asterisms in the Infinite was created for #minizinejuly25's prompt: "Sketch Book." However, since I can't sketch, I made a book where YOU sketch!

A mini-zine is the most common form of zine, one you can easily make yourself! All you have to do is fill out a single side of a piece of paper, fold and cut it, and boom: you've got a lil booklet! You can see a video of this below. :D

This is the third year that Angel and I have taken part in #minizinejuly25, a challenge to create a zine every 5 days (plus one 24-hour zine on the 31st) in July. July is International Zine Month, so it all works together!

And if you're reading this before August 4th, 2025, you can get our 2023 and 2024  #minizinejuly zines here for FREE. If you're interested in making zines, or have made one yourself, you're also welcome to join our Free Zine Week 2025 bundle. As I write this, over 75 people have joined the jam, and we have over 100 zines submitted!

How Do I Fold It Though?

This video is a great example of how to fold an 8-page zine!

More Zines

You can check out our other zines on this list, and Angel made a Sketch Book zine too! Check it out below.

This could be useful as a solo RPG oracle, I'm always on the lookout for innovative ones, and boy is this innovative! Though of course to stay with the intent of starscrawling, it would be a non-violent RPG, which are the kind I prefer anyway. Not to say I don't understand the message is to discourage IRL violence, I'm just saying.

Oh wow, yeah, I hadn't even considered it as a tool to use in RPGs! You're right, it could easily lend itself to that.

And yeah lol, any violence caused in fictional settings with asterisms is 100% allowed, so long as people aren't harmed irl, you got that exactly right 🤣 I mean, it's often hard to defeat evil villains in games without at least SOME violence 😅
