An 8-page zine written for the #minizinejuly23 challenge on instagram posted by blancisthecreative. The prompt for July 16-20 was Pocket Guide, with instructions to "Make a handy guide to carry in your pocket. It can be a guide to mushrooms, thrifting, even fixing a car!" After thinking this one over for a bit and fussing to Beth that I had no idea how to narrow down what I should write a pocket guide about, Beth asked what kind of guide would I find helpful to have in my pocket? This guide is my answer to that question.

How Do I Fold It Though?

This video is a great example of how to fold an 8-page zine!

Thanks for this zine! I didn't know doorways had that effect. I experience it even when staying in the same room, like if I get up to get something in the fridge ^^ or does the fridge's door act like a doorway? ^^

Thanks for reading it! That's a good question. The articles that I read also went into the fact that it could also be environmental change. For example, you're in a department store and go from kitchenware to automotive or groceries to cleaning products. Your mind sees the new environment and recognizes it as a change of venue, so you must be done with your current thoughts and on to new ones. The other affect is "information overload" and part of that can be the many decisions the refrigerator brings with it. I often struggle with that when I pick up my phone to do something. I see all the apps and completely forget what I was aiming to do on my phone in the first place.
