Making Change?

Making Change is an adventure spark based on the world of Control. I freaking love Control so much and have always wanted to base something on it, and this is the second time I had an opportunity (the first with something TTRPG-based!).

This spark sees you discover a coin with the ability to shift into other coins, explode with coins, and convert any object into a coin. Oh, and it makes anyone who sees it strongly desire it. Also, it craves balance in the world, and will strongly encourage you to act good or evil most days as it sees fit. But I mean... it makes coins! Lots and lots of coins!

Obtaining the coin thrusts you into a world of three opposing forces: The Observatory collects, studies, and keeps objects like these safe; a mysterious, anarchistic group seeks to get these objects into the world to shift the power balance between corrupt governments and the people; and a COLLECTIVE from another [world/dimension/existence] may empower your party even further, but has a questionable endgame...

Why Are There No Screenshots?

Because the vast majority of this document is for the GM/DM/whoever, and shouldn't be read by players! It's 100% for the sake of secrecy. 🤫

What is a CoinSides Adventure Spark?

First, CoinSides coins are special, unique metal coins with all sorts of randomized results possible by spinning them. This one is based on the upcoming Cyber CoinSides coin, and uses both the d100 and "Good/Neutral/Evil" random results from the coin. You can use a d100 and a d6 if you don't have this coin, however.

This text between the lines below comes directly from the 2nd CoinSides Adventure Sparks Jam:

====================

CoinSides Adventure Sparks (Sparks for short) are modular, system-agnostic supplements that can easily be incorporated into an existing tabletop roleplaying campaign to add color and depth to the world and story. They can be side quests, events, locations, lore, or anything. However, they must have a coin as the central theme and follow the same structure devised by Bart Wynants:

  • BACKGROUND - Information needed to understand the Spark.
  • SETUP - 3 different, original ways to get the Spark started.
  • SCENES - 2 to 4 suggested scenes the GM can easily weave into their campaign.
  • AFTERMATH - A section explaining how things turn out at the Spark’s conclusion.
  • All in 1,500 words, plus or minus 20%, written by you, and suitable for most ages.

==================

With that said, I've seen some sparks that use instances of setting up the powers of the coin as the "scenes," and did that with mine (plus three of the setups are also usable as scenes). Hopefully it qualifies as one! 🤞 And, as wordy as I am, I came in about 100 words shy of the maximum of 1,800! 🤣
