Kwak Pencils Zine
A downloadable Zine
An 8-page zine written for the #minizinejuly23 challenge on instagram posted by blancisthecreative. The prompt for July 6-10 was throwback, with instructions to "Take us back to the past!" So, I chose to write a silly zine about things that get lost to time and how they sound a bit weird to younger generations that didn't live it. I used examples from 3 generations of my family (my memaw, mom, and I).
How Do I Fold It Though?
This video is a great example of how to fold an 8-page zine!

That’s a listing on a collectibles site for kwak pencils (probably just a searchable record of an old eBay sale). It looks like the kwak international corporation filed for bankruptcy in 1970, so it’s little surprise nobody on the internet has heard of them.
You made my mom's day, thank you! She remembered buying them from a school supply vending machine when she was a kid. She said hey, see I even had the spelling right!
